Why does the price of rose petals increase in the winter time???

The Rose Petal Shop gets asked many times why the price of fresh rose petals across the industry increases from December through February. The simple answer is because of what is known in the floral industry as ‘the pinch’.

Every year at the end of November flower farms really cut back the majority (if not all) of their rose bushes. They do this so that they can have 2 harvests in the days and weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. Rose prices during that time are at a premium, so the more the farms sell… the more they make.

So there you have it… the increase on the price of rose petals is a direct result of ‘the pinch’.

** One thing to remember is that freeze dried rose petals are NOT affected by ‘the pinch’. Freeze dried rose petals are harvested and preserved during the summer months from one of our fantastic flower farms here in the US! **

Freeze Dried Rose Petal Update

As summer fades to fall and the cooler temperatures become the norm, our production of freeze dried rose petals winds down and our farms are left with what they have been able to harvest during the summer months. What does that mean for you as a customer???

BUY, BUY, BUY!!! With production soon coming to a close, we will be limited to the quantities of freeze dried rose petals that our flower farms have harvested, preserved, and stored. Once those are gone, we will mark that product as ‘unavailable’ until probably next June or July when production will resume once again.

The beautiful thing about freeze dried rose petals is that they last a VERY LONG TIME. If you have grown attached to or fallen in love with a particular color - BUY NOW! We will sell out of many of the colors that we offer - some much sooner than others. Don’t procrastinate. Buy now and have the colors that you desire for your upcoming wedding or event.

On behalf of the Rose Petal Shop, we appreciate your business and look forward to serving you soon!
